The fastest node, picked for you
Before connecting, the app pings nodes straight from your phone and picks the fastest one — together with the protocol that works best on it. You can still pick a country yourself.
A kill switch for when things drop
If the tunnel falls over, Veyl keeps traffic in until it is back up. Without that you would never notice: apps keep working as usual, just from your real address.
Keep your bank outside the VPN
Tick the apps that do not need the VPN: your bank, government services, your carrier’s app. They go from your usual address, and everything else goes through the tunnel.
Does not doze off in the background
Android likes to put background apps to sleep, and a tunnel is the first candidate. Veyl asks not to be restricted in the background and can connect on its own when you turn your phone on.
Fewer ads and trackers
A built-in filter blocks banners and trackers. It will not remove ads inside YouTube: those come from the same address as the video itself.
DNS goes through the tunnel too
DNS lookups do not go to your carrier — they travel inside the tunnel. Want your own resolver? Enter its address; DNS over TLS and DNS over HTTPS work too.
Common questions
- Why is the app not on Google Play?
- For now we hand it out ourselves, as an APK from this page. Download it only from here — that way you know the file is ours.
- How do I install an APK?
- Open the downloaded file. Android asks whether apps from this source may be installed — allow it for the browser you downloaded with and go back to the install. You can revoke the permission later in settings.
- A “Connection request” pops up on the first connect. What is it?
- A system prompt: every VPN app needs permission to raise a tunnel. Tap OK — you will not see it again.
- The tunnel keeps switching off. What can I do?
- Usually battery saving puts it to sleep. The app has a “Tunnel keeps dropping?” screen that walks you through it: do not restrict Veyl in the background, allow autostart and turn on Always-on VPN in Android settings.
- Will it run on my phone?
- Yes, if it runs Android 8 or later on an ARM64 processor — nearly any phone from recent years. Older 32-bit models will not run it. No root needed.
- I already have another VPN. Will they get along?
- Android holds one VPN at a time: when Veyl connects, the other one disconnects on its own. To go back to it, disconnect Veyl.
- Will Russian banks and marketplaces work?
- Yes. Tick their groups in your account on the website — banks, government services, marketplaces — and they go direct, from your usual address, with no captchas or refused logins. All your devices follow the choice.
- Does the VPN reconnect on its own after a reboot?
- Yes, if you turn it on in settings: Veyl brings the tunnel up as soon as the phone boots. And if the connection drops, it sends a notification.
- Which protocols are inside?
- Hysteria2, VLESS Reality and NaiveProxy. You do not need to know them — the app picks for you. If you are curious: Hysteria2 is faster on mobile data, and Reality gets through better where VPNs are blocked.
